This
product is designed to function with
virtually any identity card. Any
card which contains a number by
which data can be indexed can be
utilized. This includes Prox, Bar
Code, Magstripe, MIFARE Legic and
iCLASS

Connection |

SMIHost software connects to the
core database either natively
for Access, Firebird and SQL or
via ODBC for virtually any other
database
-
SMIHost need not be installed on
the same machine as the core
database it just needs a
network link

Multiple copies of SMIHost can
be connected to the same data
source

There is no data duplication
no data is held within SMIHost
it acts as a gateway

Images can be held in a separate
location they do not have to
be part of the core database

A
file location is provided to
allow the posting of a Watch
List for invalid/lost/stolen
card numbers

Design |

Once connected the
user/installer can choose which
table they wish to utilise in
the core database and select
the data and or image they wish
to load to the PDA

The user/installer must specify
which field is being utilised
for the card number

The PDA screen can be designed
to suit the display requirements

The design of the PDA screen can
be transferred to the PDA via
Active Sync

Downloading |

The extract of the core database
to be transferred is downloaded
to the PDA

SMIHost has its own image
compression facility ensuring
the images do indeed fit onto
the PDA

Databases of many tens of
thousands may be accommodated

Mobile
Use |

SMIMobile software is loaded
onto the PDA. This software
functions in accordance with a
range of devices, dependent on
the card type supplied by SMI

When a card is presented the
card number is read and compared
with the Watch List if valid
the details associated with that
individual are displayed by the
PDA

SMIMobile records the Card
number and time of read this
Audit trail is then exported
back to SMIHost as a text file

The Watch list and Audit files
may be updated wirelessly if the
appropriate network is available
