Data on Card
|
|
|
This
product is designed to function with
Smart cards – in particular HID’s
iCLASS platform and MIFARE. The
system utilizes the memory available
on the card itself to store data and
images. |
|
Connection |
-
SMIHost software connects to the
core database either natively
for Access, Firebird and SQL or
via ODBC for virtually any other
database
-
SMIHost need not be installed on
the same machine as the core
database – it just needs a
network link
-
Multiple copies of SMIHost can
be connected to the same data
source
-
There is no data duplication –
no data is held within SMIHost –
it acts as a gateway
-
Images can be held in a separate
location – they do not have to
be part of the core database
-
A
file location is provided to
allow the posting of a “Watch
List” for invalid/lost/stolen
card numbers
|
|
Design |
-
Once connected the
user/installer can choose which
table they wish to utilize in
the core database – and select
the data /image they wish to
load to the card
-
The user/installer must specify
which field is being utilized
for the card number
-
The PDA screen can be designed
to suit the display requirements
-
The design of the PDA screen can
be transferred to the PDA via
Active Sync – or by utilizing a
“Configuration Card” – that can
be created with SMIHost and a
desktop r/w unit
|
|
Card
Writing |
-
If
a desktop r/w unit is connected
to SMIHost then cards can be
written directly. The desktop
unit will read the card number,
and SMIHost transfers the
relevant data/image onto the
card.
-
SMIHost has it’s own image
compression facility – ensuring
the image does indeed fit onto
the card
|
|
Mobile Use |
-
SMIMobile software is loaded
onto the PDA. This software
functions in accordance with
CF/SD readers – supplied by SMI
-
When a card is presented the
card number is read and compared
with the Watch List – if valid
the details programmed onto the
chip are displayed by the PDA
-
SMIMobile records the Card
number and time of read – this
Audit trail is then exported
back to SMIHost as a text file
-
The Watch list and Audit files
may be updated wirelessly if the
appropriate network is available
