Phone combines Contact & Contactless card reader technology
NFC and smart card enabled PDA Phone with read
and write capability
The AXIA A306 NFC and smart card enabled PDA Phone is designed
for industrial applications but has the look and feel of a
mobile phone. The phone is built on the Microsoft® Windows®
Mobile 6.0 and has a card reader that can to read with and write
on contact-based and contactless smartcards.
The mobile handheld PDA device supports the ISO7816-1/2/3
standard contact-based Smartcards and ISO14443 and Mifare
Contactless Smartcards. The NFC is a secure short range,
low-bandwidth wireless technology. It operates in half-duplex
mode in an unregulated band at a frequency of 13.56 MHz. It
offers easy, automatic wireless connection without the need of
logins and can transfer any kind of data between electronic
devices at 106, 212 or 424 kbit/s.
As the Smartcard-reader module is incorporated into the GSM/GPRS
mobile phone, it has bi-directional data transfer possibility
through a GSM Data Call / GPRS. This can be started by the phone
or by the host system. If the host initializes the transfer,
there is no action necessary by the phone user in order to get
or collect the stored data from transaction memory. The AXIA is
pocket-sized, with dual functions, GSM/GPRS connectivity makes
it a highly appropriate device to host a wide range of
applications.
